Volodymyr Tykhonovych Slubs’ky
Education:
He was born in the Village of Dovzhok, District of Yampil’. In Makiivka, he completed the 9-10 classes’ secondary school education and he also studied the painting in the painting studio in parallel. After army service, he studied at the painting college named after Mr. Grekov in the City of Rostov-on-Don.
Work experience and former projects:
He is engaged in the pottery business for more than 30 years. He worked as a painter-художником-оформлювачем in the City of Mogyliv-Podil’s’ky; then, he together with his wife, a teacher, worked as teachers in the Village of Goroshki in Region of Kyiv. Returning to the native Village of Dovzhok, Mr. Volodymyr Slubs’ky started to work as a painter at the collective farm, and then, he moved to the Yampil’ division at the Vinnytsia painting complex. Mr. Volodymyr Slubs’ky together with the Mr. Oleksandr Pirnyak and Mr. Oleksiy Alyoshkin creative art team decided to go to the Village of Bubnivka and to the Village of Novoselivka with a goal to learn more on the pottery products painting techniques by Mrs. Valentina Zhyvko, a local craft master from the Village of Bubnivka, and by Mrs. Frosyna Ivanivna Mishenko, a local craft master from the Village of Novoselivka. He studied the pottery technologies by hisself, then, he decided to attend the pottery business-meeting the Village of Bubnivka, where he met with the famous masters-potters from all the Ukraine. He began the painting of the ceramics products by applying the Trypil’s’ky style. He began to paint the ceramics products by using the Bar’s painting style since the moment, when he learned more about it at the photographs on the Bar’s bowls from the regional history museum funds. He says: «As I saw these birds, at once, I decided to make the same birds». The master tried to find the Bar ceramics painting technology by hisself for years. He is a member of the Ukraine national folk art masters since 2005. He was a winner at «The artist» nomination at the «A man of the year - 2016» competition in the City of Vinnytsia. He was a participant at the «The Bar ceramics traditions revival» first regional round table, which took place in the Town of Bar under the support by the Ukrainian culture foundation in 2018.
