The museum of ethnography and art development of the institute of folk knowledge of the Ukrainian national academy of sciences in L’viv
Museum of ethnography and art development (MEAD) of the institute of folk knowledge of the Ukrainian national academy of sciences has a biggest and complete collection of applied art pieces in Europe, including the timepieces collection from the end of ХVcentury – beginning of ХІX century, art glass and ceramics. The collections of both the furniture and the gobelins - the European and World unique pieces – are impressive.
The Ukrainian art collection is regarded as a museum’s pride. It represents the collected samples from the Ukrainian different regions by the calendar time cycles (it is exhibited at the second floor of the building at the 10 Market Square). The exposition shows a full spectrum of folk crafts (the beekeeping, fishing, bondarism, rod weaving, woodcarving, pottery).
In the museum’s exposition, the Bar’s potters’ ceramics products are presented among the ceramics samples from the Ukrainian different regions. The Bar’s potters’ ceramics products differ from other samples by their special colours and composition. A big number of the Bar’s unique ceramics products is researched, renovated and stored into the Bar’s museum funds. It makes possible to learn more about the Bar as a unique pottery place in Podolia region.
The Bar’s museum conducts an active international collaboration in the form of joint projects with the museums from Poland, Slovakia, Israel, Canada, USA, Austria, France, Germany, Latvia, Finland, etc. For example, the exhibitions exchange, joint catalogues preparation, booklets printing, and prospects publishing.
