The Ukrainian pottery national museum heritage-site in Opishne
The museum of pottery was founded on March 11 1986 року in Opishne, Region of Poltava, Ukraine. The three years later, the government directive was issued to establish the Ukrainian pottery state museum heritage-site ethnocultural scientific educational organization, which is considered as the national pottery preservation site in Ukraine. In 2001, the museum-heritage-site was granted a statute of the national museum. Since 2016, it is a member of the national committee of international union of museums «ІСОМ». Currently, the organization is known as the all-Ukrainian center with a focus on the research, preservation and popularization of pottery craft heritage in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian pottery national museum heritage-site has a biggest collection of the ceramics products by the professional potters and art painters in Ukraine (around 55000 pieces). The creative achievements by the potters from all the ceramics schools from all the ethnographic regions in Ukraine are exhibited there.
A big number of the Bar’s potters’ ceramics products are presented in an exhibition collection and stored in the museum’s funds. A private collection by Mr. Volodymyr Titarenko, art collector, which was given as a present to the museum, is considered to be a real beauty in the museum’s exhibition collection presently.
The museum includes: the Ukrainian pottery national archive, the Ukrainian pottery books collection, the Ukrainian pottery audiovisual studio, the Ukrainian people publishing house, the Mr. Oleksandr Selyuchenko pottery memorial museum, the Poshyvailiv pottery family memorial museum, the Mr. Leonid Smorzh memorial museum, the Krichevskyh art family memorial museum, the Ukrainian center of pottery heritage popularization.
The Ukrainian pottery national museum heritage-site is an organizer of the Ukrainian national pottery symposiums, international pottery festivals, national art ceramics competition, all-Ukrainian and international scientific conferences on the pottery and ceramics problems.
