The museum was founded in 1969. Since 2009, it is situated at the Grafs’ka Street, which is one of the central streets in the ХХ century architectural-historical city ensemble. The collection includes more than the 5 thousands exhibits. Every year, the museum has more than the 6 thousands local and distant visitors.
The museum conducts the following activities:
- the city excursions by foot: «The Zhmerynka’s Railway Station: Legends and Facts»; «The Old Buildings and Quiet Courts at City»; «The Jewish Ghetto at the Zhmerynka’s Territory. As it was»;
- the master-classes on the intuitive painting and applied decorative art;
- the music greetings;
- the Winter residence;
- the «Leather Artistic Decoration» teaching class;
- the club of collectors.
There are the «The Modern City Presentation» and «The Famous City Citizens» exposition complexes. There is an exhibition hall, where the painters’ art-works exhibitions, presentations, art meetings, art discussions, art master-classes, music greetings, take place. In the museum exposition halls, the ХІХ–ХХ centuries Zhmerynka’s city residents’ life artifacts are presented. The art works by Mr. Mykhailo Maslyuk, a honored national creativity master, and by Mr. Sergiy Teterin, his grandson, are considered to be unique.
There are the Bar’s ceramics three exhibits, which were gifted by the locals, in the Zhmerynka’s history museum collection. Among them – the 1869 oldest dated half-plate, which was made by the Bar’s ceramics masters-potters and it is related to the Chernyatyn’s life in the ХІХ century.
