Petrographic analysis

An important component of our project is the elemental and petrographic analysis of samples of Bar pottery, which will determine the composition of the molding masses of bar potters, and the results of the analysis will be the basis for future research in the field of ceramics. According to the number of processed samples, the analysis will be one of the most thorough in domestic scientific practice. Expert Anastasia Korokhina, a researcher at the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Candidate of Historical Sciences, is engaged in this important work. That is why, in addition to visiting museums, members of the expedition "In Search of Bar Ceramics" met and talked with Ms. Anastasia in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, as well as handed over to the expert for analysis another selection of discovered pottery. The first research results will be presented at the All-Ukrainian scientific-practical online conference "The place of Bar ceramics in the pottery heritage of Ukraine", which will take place on September 12 this year and will be supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation together with Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, Ukrainian Center for Cultural Studies.
