The Ukrainian national museum of folk architecture and life in Pyrogiv
The Ukrainian national museum of folk architecture and life – an architecture-landscape complex with all the Ukrainian historic-ethnographic regions: the Polissya, Slobozhanshyna, Poltavshyna, Karpaty, Upper Dnipro, Podolia and Southern Ukraine. Museum of sky was founded in February 6, 1969. It is situated at the Kyiv’s Southern suburb – the historical land, which was in possession by the Kyiv-Pechersk Lanvra one day. It opened its doors for the first visitors in 1976.
Today, near the 300 Ukrainian folk architectural sights of XVI-XX centuries are situated there. The traditional living and business building constructions include the houses, sheds, wells and some other attributes of the Ukrainian old village. The house from the Samary village in the Volyn’ region (1587р) is an oldest architectural sightseeing place.
The museum funds have around the 100 thousand different pieces: the people clothes, fabrics, furniture, labour instruments, potters’ products, woodcraft men products, carpenters’ products, joiners’ products, forgers’ products, art pieces, music instruments, children toys, etc.
Among the numerous exhibits, which are situated in the funds and exhibition, the Bar’s potters products take numerous places. Here, the rare samples of the Bar’s ceramics are collected, researched and exhibited thanks to the museum workers.
An every visitor can take a walk by the museum’s strips independently or jointly with an experienced guide. There is a plenty of the shops and restaurants around the museum.
Every year, the Kyiv’s museum attracts the visitors not only from Ukraine, but from the different corners around the World.
