The Kam’yanets’-Podil’s’ky’s state historical museum-park was founded in 1890 as «the ancient things storage place». These ancient things were collected by the members of a committee on the historical monuments and the culture in Podillya. The members made the numerous checks in the provincial cities, towns and villages.
Since the time of its foundation, the museum has been formed as the local history studies organization, which accumulated the different materials and the information about the local history, the nature, the folk household traditions and the folk art. In 1903, the museum’s name was changed in connection with the re-naming of a committee on the historical monuments and the culture in Podillya to the Podillya’s churches historical-archeological association. Mr. Yu. Sitsins’ky, a Podillya’s famous researcher was a head of the two institutions. He created and published the detailed lists of museum exhibits (above the 7,5 thousands exhibits) in 1904, 1909. The following ancient things were listed: the church antiquities (around the 2 thousands samples), the collections of the archeology and history antiquities (around the 3,5 thousands samples), the ethnography antiquities (above the 1 thousand samples), «the language and letters» antiquities (around the 1 thousand samples), the art antiquities (around the 600 samples). The historical collections included: the numismatic collection; the materials, which were connected with the social-economical development of cities (the activities by the magistratures, the crafts workshops and the administrations); the collections of the ancient maps, plans, provincial atlases, some cities maps and fortresses maps; the documents and the signatures by the famous historical personalities; the rare manuscripts and the old books (from the 16–17 centuries).
In 1920-s the collected antiquities were passed to a collection of the local historical-archeological museum (presently, it is called as the Kam’yanets’-Podil’s’ky’s state historical museum-park).
In 1937, it was located at the Old fortress’s territory.
